Partner Vineyards name board

Hazel McCabe has hand carved a wonderful name board for the new Vineyard – we will erect this shortly at the Vineyard.

Busy watering the vines by bowser at the moment – not the most interesting job – feel guilty praying for rain when most people want sun but getting a bit desperate now for farmers!

16th May – vines start to shoot!

A bit of rain last weekend and our pebble soil has held the water well encouraging life in the new vines – early buds and shoots bursting through the wax seal.  Still need a bit more rain but now forecast for after the County Show on Sunday.  Vine covers now going on to protect young shoots from rabbits and deer.

Planting the New Vineyard Monday 2nd May

Finally,  after a few years of having the idea for the new Partner Vineyard field and a gruelling Dragons Den experience – planting day arrived.

2500 vines – Solaris, Regent, Rondo and Seyval Blanc were planted by about 80 volunteers in just 4 hours. The weather stayed fine for planting although the ground is very dry – desperately need rain. BBQ and a few bottles of Pebblebeds finest fizz rounded the day off – great to see the vines in the ground!
