Pebblebed Partner Vineyards

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the idea of Pebblebed Partner Vineyards?

In 1999 a group of friends came together to plant the first half acre of vineyards near Topsham close to Exeter in Devon.  This was the beginning of Pebblebed Vineyards which has now grown to become one of the foremost vineyards in England regularly wining awards for its wine.

Over the years we have had the joy of planting the vines, nurturing them to harvest and popping the cork on our new wines. Pebblebed Partner Vineyards is a way of us allowing more people and businesses to join in, planting a new area of vineyard, and experience over the years the excitement of seeing the vines grow and enjoy the social aspects of vineyards and wine!

What do I receive?

Founders of the vineyard will be invited to regular vineyard and wine events over a ten year period 2011 to 2020.

  • Six bottles of  Sparkling wine each year for 10 years labeled with the name of the Founder or Business (valued at today’s prices at £1500).
  • Invites to assist with planting the vineyard and regular invites to working and social events following the vineyard year – normally associated with pruning, summer work, and harvest.
  • Vineyard tour and tasting with lunch for 4 people each year (valued at £500 at today’s prices)
  • Discount of 10% off rrp for all new purchases of wine with own name label.

When will I get my wine?

Six bottles of Sparkling wine labeled with your own name will be available for collection from our Topsham Cellar in May each year.   It is our intention that from 2016 the wine will come from grapes produced at the Pebblebed Partner Vineyard.  However, we reserve the right to substitute the wine from our other Pebblebed Vineyards and in the unlikely event that this is not possible from other UK Vineyards.

When can I take my annual vineyard tour and lunch?

You will be welcome to your annual tour of the vineyard and lunch at a suitable time subject to booking.  There will also be a number of opportunities at other times of the year for you and your guests to visit the vineyard associated with vineyard events.

What is my legal position with regard to the vineyards and the offer?

Founders will have no legal rights over the vineyard land, vines or any associated buildings, land, equipment or wine.  This offer is not a monetary or land investment. Full legal conditions are attached to the end of these questions and will be provided at the time of purchase.

Where is the vineyard?

The Vineyard will be close to our existing vineyards near Topsham in Devon UK.

When am I allowed to visit the vineyard?

You may only visit the vineyard and associated buildings when invited.  You are entitled to an annual vineyard tour at suitable time and there will also be a number of opportunities at other times of the year to visit the vineyard associated with vineyard events.

What vineyard work am I expected to do?

Founders will not be expected to do any physical work.  However there will be regular opportunities to assist us in the vineyard should you wish.  In particular, harvest is a great time to join in and pick a crate or two with friends.

When will the vineyards be planted - first produce grapes and wine?

We plan to plant the vineyard in early May 2011.  All being well the vines will first produce grapes in the autumn of 2014.  Again all being well still wines will be produced from the vineyard 6 months later and sparkling wines 18 months later.

What happens at the end of 10 years?

After 10 years you will have no rights to continue to be involved in the vineyard, however closer to the time we will look at how your involvement can continue should you be interested.

What other costs do I bare?

There are no other costs associated with this offer however you are welcome to purchase further bottles of wine at a discounted rate.  A modest charge may be made for certain vineyard events.

How much is the offer?

The cost of joining Pebblebed Partner Vineyards is £2000 inclusive of Vat.
